The fall run is on. Be the name anglers see before they book.
It's fall-run season β the weeks when stripers and blues blitz the bait along the beaches, and every morning anglers in your zone open their phones to decide where to fish, what to buy, and who to sail with. NJ Salt Signal is the one app built to put your business in front of that decision: your name on the reports, your listing featured in your zone, and one tap from reading about the bite to calling or booking you.
Built to send you customers β here's the whole mechanism
Anglers don't decide where to fish in a vacuum. They read a report, check the tide, look at the bite window β and then they pick a boat, stop at a shop, or book a slip-side trip. NJ Salt Signal is being built so that at every one of those moments, your name is the one they see β and reaching you takes one tap. No invented numbers: the app is in private testing, so what we're offering founding partners is position β being there, featured, from day one.
π― Make this preview yours β 20 seconds
Type a business in and watch the hero, the Featured Partner Preview, and the phone's top report re-personalize. (A personalized link can also carry it automatically: ?business=β¦&zone=β¦&type=β¦&detail=β¦)
Your byline on the bite
Your reports post under your business name β βLimits of stripers on the morning trip β [Your Boat]β β in the zone feed anglers read while they're deciding where to fish this weekend. Every report is a reason to choose you, written in your voice.
First names at launch
Founding Partners are featured free for 12 months and are who the launch audience meets first in each zone. Featured slots are capped per zone, so the placement stays worth having β when they're gone, they're gone.
Reading β ringing
Call and Book buttons live on your listing and on every report you post. An angler who just read that the bite is on doesn't have to go searching for your number β it's one tap, while the excitement is hot.
Sunrise Charters β sample business

βSea bass steady on the reef β limits by noonβ
Posted under Sunrise Charters β sample business in the Manasquan / Point Pleasant feed β illustrative sample report, written for this preview. This business did not post it.
Buttons are inert in this demo β no real business is listed, called, or booked here. This preview does not mean the business above is a partner or has endorsed NJ Salt Signal β it shows how they would appear as a Founding Partner.
What a partner actually does
- Post a report when you post anywhere β the same report you put on Facebook takes under a minute here, and it reaches anglers by zone, not just followers
- Keep your listing current β sailing times, what you're targeting, shop hours, fuel/bait notes for marinas
- Answer the phone β the app puts the call and booking buttons in front of the angler; the rest is the business you already run well
That's it. No content team, no ad budget, no contract gymnastics β founding placement is free for 12 months while we prove the channel together.
The honesty part β because you've heard pitches before
NJ Salt Signal is in private testing and coming soon. There is no launch audience yet, and we won't quote you traffic, user counts, or bookings we don't have. What exists today: a working test app (guide to 62 NJ fish plus shellfish, reports, catch log, 2026 NJ regs built in), this demo, and a launch being seeded zone by zone with the businesses anglers already trust β starting with yours. Founding Partners aren't buying ads. They're taking the front-row seats before the doors open, free, while there's still a choice of seats.
See it the way your customers will
Press play and the phone below walks itself: the same five beats as the 60β90 second partner walkthrough video β your name on a report, your featured listing, one tap to call or book. Or tap any scene to jump straight to it. Every screen is the real demo; all data on it is labeled example data.
βIt's 5 AM. The fall run is on, and every angler in your zone is asking the same question: where's the bite, and who do I sail with? This is the screen they open.β
Tap through the app your customers will use
This is the actual flow anglers will use: check the bite, read a report with a partner's name on it, open a playbook, log a fish. Anything typed or tapped here stays on this device β it never touches the private test app or any real account. Everything below the phone is the full content behind each screen.
Your reports run under your name, with your buttons attached. Anglers reading the bite can reach you in one tap. (Example report)

Preview bookingTry these 4 taps
1) Switch your zone on Today β bite logic changes and so does the weather-alert banner pinned above the score (try Manasquan for a Gale Warning, Ocean City for all-clear). Tap the banner for the full alert. 2) Add a fish in Log. 3) Flip species in the playbook. 4) Then scroll to Reports, NOAA and the wind panel to see the data behind the score.
Why one app wins
Today, most NJ anglers open a tide app, a weather app, a forum/Facebook group, and a notes app. NJ Salt Signal collapses that into one morning check β that's the whole subscription pitch.
| Job | Now | NJ Salt Signal |
|---|---|---|
| Bite window | Guesswork | Score + best window by zone |
| Tides & marine wx | 2 apps | NOAA panel, one tap |
| Wind detail | Separate weather apps | Windy-style panel in-app (public-model data) |
| Reports | Scattered groups | 24-report zone feed, spots protected |
| Log | Notes app | Auto-filled with tide & weather |
Built NJ-first, on purpose
Six zones from Sandy Hook to Delaware Bay at launch. New regions (Long Island, Chesapeake, New England) only after NJ is polished β depth in one fishery beats thin coverage everywhere.
Trip Albums β every trip becomes the story
Each trip you log becomes an album: cover catch, the dayβs log in time order, photos and videos, the conditions the app recorded, and a timeline of the day β depart, the spots you fished (named, never pinned), and the run home. Start one from the Log screen in the phone above, or add any catch to an existing album.
NOAA conditions panel
Tides, marine weather, wind & waves, and water temperature β the official-data backbone of the bite score. In the live app this pulls from NOAA CO-OPS tide stations and National Weather Service marine forecasts.

How the app uses NOAA
Every catch stamps the tide stage, water temp and wind at that hour β no typing.
Tide movement, wind direction/speed, pressure trend and water temp feed the score you saw on Today.
NWS small-craft advisories and gale warnings pin to the top of Today β before the bite score, always.
Official sources in the live build: NOAA Tides & Currents (CO-OPS) Β· NWS Marine Forecasts Β· NOAA Buoy Data (NDBC)
Dangerous-weather alerts β a warning you canβt miss
When the National Weather Service posts a warning or advisory for your marine zone, it pins to the top of Today β above the bite score β in red or amber, and the same banner follows you into the NOAA panel, the radar and the charts. Tap any alert for the full NWS-style detail: wind in knots, seas in feet, timing, affected zones, and what it means for the way you fish.
All six zones at a glance (example status β tap a zone to select it)
π My wind alert β set your own threshold
NWS advisories are one-size-fits-all. Your boat, your beach and your comfort level arenβt. Set the wind line for your zone and NJ Salt Signal alerts you the moment the forecast or the buoys cross it β before NWS ever posts an advisory.
Prototype demo: the sliders evaluate this pageβs example winds only β nothing is saved or sent. In the MVP the setting saves to your account, applies per zone, and drives both the in-app banner and push alerts. Change the zone above and the verdict follows it.
How alerts work in the real app β live, and pushed
Honest answer to βare they real time?β β in the MVP, yes. This prototype canβt do it (static page, no server), so everything here is a labeled example. The live build works like this:
- Live source, free: the National Weather Service alerts feed at api.weather.gov β the same official products behind weather.gov β polled continuously for the NJ marine & coastal zones (ANZ338, ANZ450βANZ455, Delaware Bay ANZ430/431, and the coastal land zones).
- App open: a warning for your zone appears instantly as the red/amber banner at the top of Today β before the bite score, always β with one tap to the full alert and what it means for inshore / nearshore / offshore / surf.
- App closed: the same alert is sent as a push notification. A warning that only appears when the app is open is not enough for safety β the squall line doesnβt check whether youβre looking at your phone.
- Your threshold, too: your custom wind setting (left) is checked against NWS forecasts and NOAA buoy observations, so you hear about your limit being crossed β not just the official one.
- Special Marine Warnings get the loud treatment: short-fuse storm warnings (squall lines, waterspouts) push with sound, because minutes matter.
Alerts remain a safety layer on top of β never a replacement for β official NWS forecasts, your VHF weather radio, and your own eyes on the sky.
Water temperature β every zone, three waters
Bay, surf and nearshore water are different fisheries on the same day β Barnegat Bay can be 3β4Β° warmer than the ocean outside the inlet, and that gap decides where the fluke sit. Every zone in NJ Salt Signal carries all three, plus offshore sea-surface temperature for the canyon.
| Zone | Bay / Inlet | Surf / Ocean | Nearshore | Trend (example) | What it means for the bite |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sandy Hook / Raritan Bay | 61Β°F | 60Β°F | 59Β°F | β Rising Β· +2Β° this week | Striper in their prime 50β68Β°F window; bay fluke fully active; weakfish starting. |
| Manasquan / Point Pleasant | 62Β°F | 61Β°F | 60Β°F | β Rising Β· +1Β° this week | Fluke & sea bass active top to bottom; tog still on the reefs while it stays under ~68Β°F. |
| Barnegat Bay / LBI | 66Β°F | 63Β°F | 62Β°F | β Rising Β· +3Β° in the bay β fastest warming in NJ | The bay is the fluke engine right now; fish deeper channels at midday as the shallows overheat. |
| Atlantic City / Brigantine | 64Β°F | 63Β°F | 62Β°F | β Steady | Back-bay fluke & weakfish on; kingfish in the Brigantine wash; reef tog/sea bass mixed. |
| Ocean City | 64Β°F | 63Β°F | 62Β°F | β Rising Β· +1Β° this week | Fluke in the wash and the bay; porgy & sea bass on the reef sites. |
| Cape May / Delaware Bay | 65Β°F | 63Β°F | 62Β°F | β Rising Β· +2Β° this week | Delaware Bay weakfish & drum turned on; striper in the rips on the ebb. |
| Offshore / Canyon waters | SST: 66Β°F mid-shore grounds | 68Β°F at the canyon edge | β Rising Β· warm eddy pushing in β 72Β°F break at Hudson Canyon | Yellowfin & mahi collect on the 70Β°F+ side of the break; fish the warm edge, not the cold core. | |
Format mirrors NOAA/NDBC reporting: station reading, 7-day trend, and the species-activity read β the three things an angler actually does with a temperature. Upwelling note (example): a hard south wind can drop surf temps 4β6Β° in a day on this coast; the app flags that drop because it shuts the beach bite down.
Navigation charts β plan the run before you leave the dock
Every NJ zone gets a chart view in the style of a NOAA nautical chart: depth contours & soundings, the maintained channels and aids to navigation, the major inlets, marked reefs & wrecks, marinas & boat ramps, and the hazards & shoals that end trips. Pick your zone, toggle the layers, and tap any marked spot to see it in the Reefs / Wrecks / Hotspots list below.

Wrecks, reefs & hotspots β with GPS coordinates
Every public NJ artificial reef site, known public wreck and public hotspot in the app, by zone β the same marks plotted on the charts above. Each entry gives its position in degrees + decimal minutes, depth, distance from the nearest inlet, what the structure is, and what you catch there. Tap βShow on chartβ to see it plotted, and tap a species to open its full tackle detail.
β Exact GPS is shown ONLY for public structure β NJ Artificial Reef Program sites, charted wrecks and long-published public hotspots that NJ publishes for public use.
π« Private & personal spots are never published: spots from angler reports stay generalized to zone level (βBarnegat Bay / LBIβ, never a pin) so nobodyβs spot gets burned, and your own saved hotspots in your log are private to you β visible only in your account, never in this list, the feed, or anyone elseβs chart.
About the NJ reef system: the stateβs Artificial Reef Program maintains reef sites from Sandy Hook to Delaware Bay β reef balls, concrete, rock and decommissioned vessels placed as fish habitat and public fishing structure. That public mission is exactly why these coordinates can be shared: they were built to be fished. Your numbers, your honey holes, your log marks β those were not, and the app treats them that way.
NJ coast radar β storm & lightning watch
The call that ends trips early and saves them: see the cells before they reach your inlet. Precipitation and storm cells tracking toward the coast, the six NJ Salt Signal zones marked, and alerts written for how you fish.

Four fisheries. Four home screens.
A back-bay fluke angler, a reef fisherman, a canyon crew and a surf caster need different reports, different forecasts and different techniques. Pick your type β everything below reorganizes around it.

Pro has to earn its keep. Hereβs the math.
No vague βpremium features.β Anglers pay when an app saves them money, saves them trips, and puts them on fish they would have missed. Thatβs the bar NJ Salt Signal Pro is built to clear.
Everything in Pro β the value stack
- Hyperlocal NJ reports β by all 6 zones and by fishing type (inshore / nearshore / offshore / surf), from party boats, tackle shops & verified anglers ~$10/mo alone*
- Bite forecast with reasons β not just a score: βoutgoing + NW wind + 61Β°Fβ so you can judge it yourself ~$6/mo*

One saved trip pays for the year
A wasted NJ trip isnβt free. One morning you donβt launch into a dead tide and a building east wind:
| Gas β truck + boat / drive to the beach | $45β$80 |
| Bait, ice & tackle lost to snags | $25β$45 |
| Ramp / parking / beach permit day cost | $15β$25 |
| Your Saturday morning | Priceless-ish |
| Total for one bad call | $85β$150+ |
Pro is $79.99 for the whole year. Avoid one bad trip β or catch one good bite window youβd have slept through β and Pro has already paid for itself. Everything after that is profit.
Free apps show a generic tide and national content. They donβt know Barnegat from the Hudson Canyon, donβt sort reports by your fishing type, and donβt learn from your log. Free is fine for a tide time. It wonβt plan your trip.
Tide app + weather app + wind app + forum + log app = 4β5 logins, conflicting forecasts, and $20β$35/mo if you pay for the good tiers of each. Pro is one login, one forecast you can trust, $6.67/mo billed yearly.
Free gets todayβs basic tide for one zone and a taste of reports. The full feed, bite reasons, playbooks with regs, log insights, alerts and offline are Pro. If Pro ever stops feeling worth 22Β’ a day, cancel in two taps β no dark patterns.

Why not just charge less?
Because hyperlocal is expensive to do well: verified shop/boat reports in 6 zones, regs kept current, and forecasts tuned per fishing type. At $5.99 βbass-onlyβ pricing β what single-feature apps charge β none of that survives. $79.99/yr ($59.99 Founding) is priced like the 2β3 apps Pro replaces, not like a toy.
The guarantee weβll test at launch: if Pro doesnβt save you at least one bad trip in your first season, we want to hear about it. Thatβs the standard the product is held to.

NJ saltwater species guide
Twelve core species in full color β what it is, what it isnβt, where it lives, how to catch it, and the NJ rules that decide whether it goes home. The art is now realistic identification plates in the style of the NJ Fish & Wildlife marine species guide: natural colors, true markings, and real scale, fin and body detail. Tap any species name anywhere on this page β reports, regs, log, photo ID β to open its full tackle & technique detail.
What did I just catch? Snap it.
Point, shoot, know β before you decide to keep or release. Try it with a sample photo, or take/upload your own to see the full flow.

Your identification will appear here: species, confidence, the ID features the system can see in your photo, and a season / legal-size check β with one-tap actions into the guide and your log.
Regs Center β NJ rules & HMS quotas
One source of truth: the species guide, the photo-ID legal check, and your log all read from this same regs data β so the rule you read is the rule youβre checked against. In the live app this updates continuously from NJ Fish & Wildlife and NOAA Fisheries.
NJ saltwater regulations by species (example data)
| Species | Season (example) | Size | Bag | Status |
|---|
Split-season species (black sea bass, tautog) change size/bag by split β the app always shows todayβs split, and alerts you before the next one changes.
Change alerts β how subscribers hear it first
βRegs change: Black sea bass Split 2 opens Saturday β 2 fish, 12.5 in min. Your log defaults updated.β
βHMS: Bluefin General category passes 75% β retention change likely. Canyon crews: plan around it.β
βThis week in NJ regs: fluke season dates confirmed Β· tog split change Nov 16 Β· striper circle-hook reminder.β
βReopening: an HMS fishery that closed mid-season has reopened β new retention limit shown in your Offshore home screen.β
Continued updates are part of the subscription
Regs and quotas donβt sit still β splits roll, retention limits change mid-season, fisheries close and reopen. Keeping this center current is ongoing editorial work, and itβs funded by Pro: real-time regs & HMS alerts are a Pro feature (see the value stack above). Free shows the basic table; Pro subscribers get every change pushed as it happens, with their log and playbooks updated to match β no finding out at the dock, or worse, at the ramp check.

Questions anglers ask
Is any data on this page live?
No. This is a shareable static prototype. NOAA values are example data in NOAA format, the wind panel uses public-model example data in a Windy-style layout, and all reports are prototype examples. Live feeds arrive in the MVP.
Are the weather alerts real time?
Not in this prototype. Every alert here is an example in NWS format, labeled βEXAMPLE ALERT β NOT LIVE,β because this shareable page cannot poll a feed. In the real app, yes: alerts are polled live from the free National Weather Service feed at api.weather.gov by marine zone, appear instantly as a banner when the app is open, and are also sent as push notifications when the app is closed β a warning you only see after opening the app is not a safety feature. Youβll also be able to set your own wind threshold (e.g. alert me above 20 kt sustained / 25 kt gusts for my zone).
Does my Windy Premium work inside the app?
Not directly β Windy Premium is a personal subscription and includes no API key, so apps canβt pull its data. The app ships with NOAA + public-model wind in a Windy-style panel. A paid Windy API plan is a future option if the numbers justify it.
Will my spot get burned?
No. Reports publish at zone level (e.g. βBarnegat Bay / LBIβ), never exact pins, and the log keeps your precise marks private by default.
Are the chart & GPS coordinates real navigation data?
No β in this prototype every chart is a schematic example view and every coordinate is an example in the published format, labeled as such, to be verified against the NJ Artificial Reef Program and NOAA in the MVP. Exact coordinates are only ever shown for public structure NJ publishes (artificial reefs, charted wrecks, public hotspots). And no chart in the app β prototype or live β replaces official NOAA charts and a proper chartplotter underway.
Why NJ only at launch?
Hyperlocal only works if itβs actually local. Six zones done deeply β reports, regs, reefs, beaches β beat 50 states done thin. Expansion follows after NJ is polished.
What does Founding lock in?
$59.99/yr for Pro for as long as you stay subscribed, vs. $79.99/yr standard. Founding is the pre-launch cohort for this prototypeβs audience.
Can I really cancel easily?
Thatβs the design standard: two taps, no retention maze. Pro has to keep earning 22Β’ a day (16Β’ for Founding).
The fall run won't wait. Neither will the front row.
We're signing Founding Partners zone by zone, starting with Zone 1 (Sandy Hook / Raritan Bay) and Zone 2 (Manasquan / Point Pleasant) β party boats, charters, tackle shops, and marinas. Founding Partners are featured free for 12 months, named on the reports, and first in front of the launch audience in their zone. When a zone's featured slots fill, the next business in that zone waits for the standard program.
Email us at hello@njsaltsignal.com with your business name and zone. That's the whole application.
Your photo, your sailing/shop details, your call & book buttons β set up with you on one short call, in your words.

Straight terms, because they're true: the app is in private testing and coming soon; founding placement is free for 12 months; there are no traffic or booking guarantees β just the front-row position, held for the businesses that step up first.
